He was shot by a police officer and arrested, and a flag and a document pledging allegiance to the terrorist group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, were found in the truck.

Saipov, who immigrated to the United States from Uzbekistan in 2010, was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of eight murders, twelve attempted murders, destroying a motor vehicle, and supporting a terrorist organization.
