The 30-year-old Lee was discovered to have ingested a lethal combination of alcohol and pills before her death. The coroner’s report revealed bruises and abrasions on her head and body and “letters of intent at the scene.”
Officials believed that the former wrestler may have fallen while intoxicated. “WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Sara Lee,” the wrestling promotion shared on Twitter late Thursday night, offering their condolences to Lee’s family, friends, and fans.
Lee married fellow wrestler Cory Weston, known as Wesley Blake, in 2017, and the couple had three children, a daughter Piper, a son Brady, and a baby boy. Weston penned a touching message to Lee on Instagram following her death: “I loved you from the first moment I saw you.
I would always say that you were an angel walking on this earth. Beautiful, compassionate, strong, and so loving. An angel that blessed me with 3 of the most beautiful children I could imagine… I can’t thank you enough for giving me the best years of my life so far.”
Lee had won a one-year contract from WWE in 2015 after winning first place in “Tough Enough.” After her stint in WWE, Lee briefly wrestled on the independent circuit. Just a day before her tragic death, Lee had posted on Instagram, celebrating her recovery from a recent health battle.
“Celebrating finally being healthy enough to go to the gym two days in a row… First ever sinus infection kicked my butt,” she captioned her selfie on October 4th. Lee’s passing is a tragic loss for the wrestling community, with many fans and fellow wrestlers mourning her death.
