During an appearance on the Howard Stern Show on May 1, the Citadel star revealed that she underwent doctor-recommended surgery to remove a polyp in her nasal cavity, which unfortunately ended up being a botched procedure that negatively affected her mental health.

After the surgery, Priyanka experienced a deep depression when she noticed that her face looked completely different. The 40-year-old actress even got fired from three other movie projects, leading her to believe her acting career was over before it began.

Despite her reluctance to undergo corrective surgery, Priyanka’s late father, Ashok Chopra, encouraged her. He even accompanied her to the procedure and held her hand, helping her regain confidence.

In addition to her father’s support, Priyanka expressed her gratitude to Bollywood director Anil Sharma, who was kind and understanding during her difficult time. “I was supposed to play this lead, and I was shifted to a supporting character,” Priyanka shared with Howard Stern.

“That filmmaker was very kind… while the tide was against me, he said, ‘It will be a small part but give it your all.’ And I did.” Priyanka continues to thrive as a leading lady, despite the early setbacks.

She stars in the new Prime Video series Citadel, which she describes as a physically, spiritually, and emotionally demanding show that requires a lot of discipline to prepare for.

“This was a very demanding show,” Priyanka said in an exclusive interview with E! News. “We shot it in 2021, and it’s five years in the making.

So here the show is; we trained for over a year and a half for this show. It required a lot of discipline, which was tough, so I learned I can do anything I put my mind to.”

Despite the challenges she has faced in her career, Priyanka’s resilience and determination continue to shine through, making her an inspiration to many.
