Former Nickelodeon Star Josh Peck Under Fire for Comments About Co-Star Jennette McCurdy
The Good Guys podcast, hosted by former Nickelodeon star Josh Peck, has recently come under fire for comments about fellow Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy.
Although a podcast episode featuring McCurdy had been recorded on the day of her book release, she later requested that the seizure be deleted and not released.
In a more recent podcast episode featuring guest Tana Mongeau, Peck and co-host Ben Soffer discussed their encounters with Dan Schneider, the creator of Nickelodeon’s hit shows.
Again, the subject of McCurdy came up, and Peck recalled an anecdote about how she had backed out of recording an episode with him last minute. He then claimed that McCurdy “owes” him for the ordeal.
Clips from the podcast have since gone viral, with many people defending McCurdy and criticizing Peck for discussing her experiences without her consent.
Schneider, who has been accused of inappropriate behavior and misconduct on set with child actors, was the main topic of discussion during the Good Guys podcast episode featuring Mongeau.
She mentioned McCurdy’s experiences with Schneider, as detailed in her controversial memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died.
In the book, McCurdy claimed that Schneider frequently shouted at her and made her reshoot her first on-screen kiss multiple times.
Peck and Soffer claimed that McCurdy had been their first-ever guest on the podcast but had asked them not to release the episode they had recorded together.
According to Peck, they offered to delete the episode and invite her back on the show but received no response from her. He then said that McCurdy “owes” him for the experience.
However, Peck’s comments have been criticized, with many people defending McCurdy and slamming Peck for discussing her experiences without her consent.
Several Twitter users pointed out that McCurdy doesn’t owe Peck anything and that he should respect her wishes. Despite the backlash, the Good Guys podcast continues to air, with Peck and Soffer interviewing celebrities like Hilary Duff.
