“I wasn’t very happy if I’m being honest,” the actress told the Financial Times. Watson played Hermione Granger for a decade in the Harry Potter franchise, leaving little time for other projects. In addition, she expressed frustration with being held accountable for projects where she didn’t have a voice or say in the process.

“I only wanted to stand in front of things where if someone was going to give me flak about it, I could say, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, ‘Yes, I screwed up; it was my decision, I should have done better,'” Watson added.

After Little Women, Watson got involved in impact investing to “support female entrepreneurs and sustainable ventures.” In 2022, she wrote and directed an advertising campaign for Prada.

Now that she’s not on set, Watson has been spending more time at her family-owned vineyards in the Chablis region of France. She’s also become a shareholder in Renais and is acting as a creative partner overseeing the gin’s imagery, design, and art direction.

Watson explained that she got involved with the creative side of the gin because she has a voice and can bring everything she’s learned to help. When asked about returning to acting, Watson confirmed she’d make another movie. “But I’m happy to sit and wait for the next right thing.

I love what I do. It’s finding a way to do it where I don’t have to fracture myself into different faces and people. And I don’t want to switch into robot mode anymore,” she shared. The actress also revealed that she’ll begin shooting a film in early 2024 but didn’t give further details about the project.
