Tragic Mass Stabbing Claims Life of English Rugby Player Michael Allen Outside Cornwall Nightclub: Arrest Made
A mass stabbing outside a popular nightclub in Cornwall claims the life of Michael Allen, a 35-year-old English rugby player, in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to police.
The Devon & Cornwall Police stated that the incident occurred at 3:15 AM, shortly after the closure of the Eclipse Nightclub.
Eight individuals, including Allen, were discovered with stab wounds when officers arrived at the scene. While Allen was pronounced dead at the scene, the other seven male and female victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Five have since been released.
The authorities have arrested a 24-year-old man about the attack, but no motive for the stabbing has been revealed yet.
Tributes have been pouring in from various sources, including Allen’s Bodmin Rugby Club, which described him as “a big part of our squad.”
In a statement released on Monday, the team set up a memorial for the slain player outside of their club and expressed their condolences: “His humor and kindness have left a mark on us all, and we will miss him dearly. Our thoughts are with Mike’s family at this devastating time.”
In a statement released by Allen’s family, they called him “simply a much-loved son, brother, grandson, and uncle who loved his dogs.” The family has requested privacy during this difficult period.
Police confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing and urged anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.
