Actress Shannen Doherty Files for Divorce from Kurt Iswarienko After 11 Years of Marriage Amid Battle with Stage IV Breast Cancer
Shannen Doherty, famously known for her roles in “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed,” has filed for divorce from Kurt Iswarienko after 11 years of marriage.
Despite being married for over a decade, the divorce is not something Doherty wanted, according to her representative, Leslie Sloane. The actress’s rep confirmed to Fox News Digital that “divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted,” adding that “unfortunately, she felt she was left with no other option.” Doherty has been through divorce twice, with actor Ashley Hamilton in 1993-1994 and Rick Salomon in 2002-2003.
Doherty’s latest split came shortly after she shared a quote on Instagram that reads, “The only people who deserve to be in your life are the ones who treat you with love, kindness, and total respect.” Sarah Michelle Gellar, her close friend and fellow actress showed her support by commenting, “I guess you will be in my life forever.”
According to sources, Iswarienko’s agent was heavily involved in the divorce proceedings, which started in January. The couple tied the knot in 2011 and had been together for over 11 years.
Doherty’s divorce news comes at a difficult time for the actress, who has been battling breast cancer since 2015. She went into remission in 2017 but announced last year that the cancer had returned and progressed to stage IV. Despite her health condition, the actress has continued her career and spoken openly about the challenges of being a cancer survivor.
