The three actors posed together for a photo, which Diesel shared on Instagram, captioning it with “Maverick meets Toretto…”. Fans of both franchises immediately speculated about the possibility of a crossover between the two worlds.
One user suggested Cruise play a villain in the Fast & Furious universe. The Cruise will soon be seen in Mission: Impossible 8, which has been filming since July. The film’s plot details have been kept under wraps, but it has been confirmed that Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham will star opposite Cruise in the movie.
Meanwhile, Diesel and Ludacris are gearing up for the release of Fast X, which will hit theaters on May 19. The film stars Jason Momoa as the antagonist, seeking revenge against Diesel’s character. The trailer for the film, which debuted in February, features throwback footage of the late Paul Walker and reframes events from 2011’s Fast Five.
Louis Leterrier directs Fast X, while co-writer Justin Lin, who previously directed five films in the franchise, was originally set to run but stepped down from the job in April. The mission will follow the film’s release: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, which is scheduled to premiere on June 28, 2024. Fans of action movies will no doubt be eagerly anticipating both of these upcoming releases!
