However, according to officials, GPS data from Morales’ phone indicated that she was walking in the direction of her home between 10:07 pm and 10:21 pm but may have gotten into a vehicle during that time.
Between 10:21 pm and 10:26 pm, Morales’ phone pinged in the area of Oak Loch Trace and Steve Reynolds Boulevard, but despite her apparent journey, she never arrived home. Her phone continued to ping at that location until it either died or was turned off, leaving her family and investigators with more questions than answers.
It wasn’t until February 6 that a passerby reported seeing what appeared to be human remains in a wooded area between Drowning Creek and Barrow County. Officials from the Gwinnett Medical Examiner’s office tested the remains and confirmed that the DNA matched Morales’ dental records, indicating that she was deceased.
